Newsletter 34 – Celebrations & new ventures

Paul Bangay Maple Trees

What magnificent maple trees! These beauties are to be found at Stonefields, home of garden designer Paul Bangay. By the time this newsletter is sent, Paul’s weekend garden opening will be just a memory, but what a great weekend it was.

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen garden Foundation is the beneficiary of Paul’s generosity and more than 7,000 garden lovers were treated to a glorious display. The food was pretty good too: lunchboxes courtesy of Annie Smithers, delicious Calendar Cheese, Plains Paddock lamb, treats from Icecream Social, wines by De Bortoli and drinks from the Daylesford & Hepburn Mineral Springs Co. Great generosity was shown to us by all those involved.

There were also stalls manned by students from four of our local kitchen garden schools – Winter’s Flat, Taradale, Daylesford and Tylden. I took home some lovely pickles and a beautiful linen tea towel.

Paul and I signed copies of our books and were pleased that the weather was pleasant on both days.
