Newsletter 24 – Acknowledging Autumn
Still Summer
Before I officially acknowledge that we are in Autumn I wanted to reflect on some of the best bits of my summer’s holiday.
I did laugh one morning reading in The Age the reported exchange between two holidaymakers at Bonnie Doon, a popular spot near to Eildon. I may have got the words a bit wrong but it went something like this:
‘What are you going to do today?’
‘Nothing.’
‘That’s what you did yesterday.’
‘I haven’t finished yet!’
Absolutely the perfect holiday comment!
Kangaroo Island FEASTival, May 2015
Kangaroo Island is a hidden gem and its specialist items are not widely known. From 1-8 May, 2015, Kangaroo Island will host FEASTival, a food festival showcasing the best of the island’s produce, wine and culture with a series of unique dining events.
I’m pleased to have contributed to the menu for the launch event, ‘Enchanted Garden’, along with local chef Kate Sumner. This dinner will celebrate many of the island’s special tastes and is sure to be a highlight.
Planning has been greatly aided by the use of digital technology, enabling me to collaborate with my colleague from a distance. Above is a sneak preview of one of the dishes.
