This is a shorter than usual offering.

But I am prompted by the imminence of Mother’s Day. For years I muttered about ‘commercial nonsense’ and discouraged my girls from doing very much about it, and then I calmed down and realised how delightful it is to have one day to be together and reflect on how fortunate we are to have one another, and to love one another. We share a meal, there will be flowers and a gift. It has always seemed odd to me to pile Mum with even more hardware for the kitchen, sort of encouraging her to keep on doing most of the domestic stuff, but again I have calmed down and realise that if something makes it all less stressful it is a GOOD THING.
